Hardy Ultralite Fly Rod

One of two rods that I’ll be using while guiding this season, the first thing that I noticed when I first picked it up was the weight of it – or better put – lack of weight. The one I have is the 8’9” 4 weight. Incredibly light in the hand and very true to its name. An extremely attractive rod with the two tone brown wraps and fine hardware on the guides and reel seat – true Hardy craftsmanship. Each section of the rod also has tip inserts to protect the female ends while in storage. Casting with it – it is truly a comfortable rod to cast – not needing much effort to extend the reach out to 45 feet. Beyond that, it is hard to get the accuracy out to 60 feet but I feel that is not what this rod is designed for. It is a true trout rod that is a pleasure to cast. Considered a medium/fast action rod, what surprised me about it was how effortlessly it was to throw a line with this rod and how nicely it tracks and recovers from short to medium distances. A great rod to look at, an amazing rod to cast and fish with for sure!!!
